About ASICS
ASICS — an acronym from the Latin phrase Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, meaning "a sound mind in a sound body" — was founded in Kobe, Japan by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949. The brand built its reputation on biomechanics and performance engineering long before lifestyle footwear became a category.
ASICS entered skateboarding properly through their dedicated skate division, applying decades of shoemaking precision to the specific demands of skating. The Gino Iannucci Leggerezza FB
Gino Iannucci is one of skateboarding's most enduring figures. From his Blind and Habitat years through to today, his skating has always been measured, precise, and technically sound — which is exactly the philosophy ASICS built his signature shoe around.
The Leggerezza FB — Italian for "lightness" — is built around a cupsole construction with a focus on keeping weight low without sacrificing protection. The FB (Foxing Band) detail references ASICS' classic construction method, where a rubber strip wraps the base of the upper for durability in the areas that take the most abuse. The result is a shoe that skates clean, holds up, and doesn't look out of place off the board.
