Daniel Johnston was a lot of things — an outsider artist, a songwriter, a cult figure beloved by Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder. He drew frogs and monsters on cassette tapes and mailed them to strangers. He made music in his parents' basement. He never really fit in anywhere, and that's exactly why he belongs on a skateboard brand.
Butter Goods just dropped a collaboration built around Johnston's art, and we've got it in store now. Here's what's landed at Parliament.
The Collection
The drop centres around Johnston's iconic illustration work — raw, hand-drawn, instantly recognisable. Butter Goods have carried his aesthetic across tees, caps, denim and accessories.

Who Was Daniel Johnston?
If you're not across Daniel Johnston — he was an American singer-songwriter and visual artist from Texas who became a cult figure through the sheer rawness of his work. He struggled with mental illness his whole life and made art and music regardless. Kurt Cobain wore his "Hi, How Are You" frog T-shirt on MTV. Sadly he passed away in 2019 but his work lives on in exactly the kind of places you'd expect — underground music, outsider art circles, and skateboarding.
Butter Goods on the Board
Butter Goods have been making skate clothing out of Perth since 2011. Their aesthetic has always sat at the intersection of underground music, art, and skateboarding — which makes this Johnston collab feel completely natural. Here's their latest Thrasher video to give you the full picture.
The full Butter Goods x Daniel Johnston drop is available in store and online at Parliament now. Sizes are limited — the tees especially won't hang around.
